We created this community AMI for EC2 using the latest open source release of memcached (v 1.4.1). We have also posted a 64-bit version and an EU version. memcached on EC2 is the simplest way to begin using the latest memcached as released by the community. It's been tested by NorthScale and is free of charge. More information can be found at

Well Done, easy to set up
This example AMI for memcached is very easy set-up and use. After running the server and testing out a new set and get commands. I took a look at the Web Interface. This is a nice feature. I could add many feature requests here, but it would just clutter a simple and well thought out tool. Good work. Some basic info: The memcached in running on SunOS Watch out: Memcached does not have any AUTH, leave port 11211 closed. To see the stats type: $ telnet localhost 11211 stats Edward M. Goldberg WaaS - Watching as a Service
