Announcing Elastic IP Address Migration from EC2-Classic to EC2-VPC

Posted on: Jan 9, 2017

Elastic IP Migration enables you to migrate unassociated Elastic IP Addresses in EC2-Classic to EC2-VPC and back if needed. This allows you to retain the same public Internet facing Elastic IP Addresses after migrating your workload into a VPC.

Elastic IP Migration is the culmination of three features which facilitate the movement, restoration and describe functions of Elastic IP as it changes scope from EC2-Classic to EC2-VPC.

Elastic IP Migration features can be found under the Elastic IP Management dropdown in both the EC2 and VPC sections in the AWS console. These features are also accessible via CLI and SDK.
