Even the best in the league had to start somewhere. Submit your first model to the virtual leaderboard today to be entered for a chance to win!

A rookie is any developer that has not previously submitted a model to the virtual leaderboard. Their best time for the week that they submit their first model will be automatically entered into the challenge. The fastest rookies of the week will win prizes in the form of AWS Credits.
Prizes for this challenge

1st - $200 AWS Credit
2-3rd - $100 AWS Credit

How to compete
The quick guide to getting started in the AWS DeepRacer League

Get on the tracks and compete in two ways: 1/ Online in the Virtual Circuit World Tour via the AWS DeepRacer Console, 2/ In-person at Summit Circuit events worldwide.

chrome_ring_2_white

Race at any of the Summit Circuit races or Virtual Circuit races, with no limit to how many races you compete in. You’ll receive points for each race.

Your points will accumulate throughout 2019. The top point scorers in each circuit will be eligible to win a trip to compete in the knockout rounds at re:Invent 2019. You can track your position anytime in the standings.

JOIN THE RACE
There are a total of 28 League races in 2019: 6 online races in the Virtual Circuit World Tour and 22 in-person races at the Summit Circuit events.

Virtual Circuit: Join the AWS DeepRacer League from anywhere in the world via the AWS DeepRacer console and put your skills to the test on virtual tracks inspired by famous raceways to be revealed monthly. You will race for prizes and glory and a chance to win an expenses paid trip to the AWS DeepRacer Championship Cup at re:Invent 2019. There are no limits on how many of the six virtual races you can participate in. The racer with the fastest lap time at the end of the monthly race, will be crowned the champion.

Summit Circuit: Join us at any of the twenty-two in-person race events globally, where we will help you build and train a model at a workshop, or you can bring one you have trained at home. You can then put your model to the test and compete on the track in the AWS Expo. There are no limits on how many of the twenty-two events you can participate in. Simply register for the event you want to race at and we’ll see you there!

Score Points
You’ll receive points for each race you participate in, whether that’s in the Virtual Circuit or the Summit Circuit.

Here are the basics on how points work, check out the AWS DeepRacer League Rules for the full details.

Enter a race to establish your place on the leaderboard. You can race in any combination of Summit Circuit races and Virtual Circuit races, plus you can race at multiple races in each Circuit.

After each Virtual Circuit race and after each Summit Circuit race, you’ll receive points based on your fastest lap time. Points will aggregate across Summit Circuit races separately from the Virtual Circuit races. Points from the Summit Circuit will not count towards points in the Virtual Circuit, and vice versa.

The points will be calculated as follows:
 - The maximum score of 1000 less the lap time in seconds, to three decimal places.
 - Points per entrant per race = max (1000-lap time)
 - For example, if your fastest lap time recorded on the leaderboard is 10.500 seconds you’ll get 989.500 points. 1000-10.500 = 989.5000

After each race, whether in the Summit Circuit, or Virtual Circuit, your updated aggregated points will be displayed in the AWS DeepRacer League Standings. Use the search bar at the top of the leaderboard to find your position.
 - For example, if you raced at the Singapore Summit with a fastest lap time of 10.500 seconds and then raced at the Seoul Summit with a fastest lap time of 9.753 seconds you’d have an aggregate points score of 1979.747.
 -  (1000-10.500) + (1000-9.753) = 1979.747

Points will accumulate throughout the season and you can increase your score and climb the overall circuit leaderboards by participating in multiple races, improving your models and the resulting lap time. Remember, there are no limits on how many races you can participate in!

Win Prizes
You've likely learned new skills by getting hands-on with machine learning, but as with any sporting event there are prizes for the top performers.

Here are the basics on how prizes work, check out the AWS DeepRacer Rules for the full details.

Trip to re:Invent 2019: a total of 48 racers in the 2019 season will be eligible to win an expenses paid trip to the AWS DeepRacer Championship Cup finals at re:Invent 2019. 27 racers who top the leaderboard in the individual races (6 from the Virtual Circuit World Tour races and 21 from the Summit Circuit races), and 21 top points getters from the Virtual Circuit World Tour and Summit Circuit (eighteen from the Virtual Circuit and three from the Summit Circuit).
The re:Invent Prize includes: a ticket to re:Invent 2019, round trip coach class flights from the winner’s nearest international airport to Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, 5 nights’ accommodation, 350 USD allowance for food and travel, and participation in the AWS DeepRacer League Knockout Tournament on 3rd December 2019.

Win an AWS DeepRacer: the top ten entrants on the leaderboard in each of the Summit Circuit races and Virtual Circuit World Tour races, each receive an AWS DeepRacer.

The AWS DeepRacer Championship Cup
The 2019 AWS DeepRacer League Season will conclude in Las Vegas, Nevada, at AWS re:Invent in December 2019. There'll be qualifiers, knockout rounds and a final race where the 2019 Champion is crowned.

There will be live racing, with the first round open to all, as the final qualifier for the knockout rounds. The knockout rounds will bring together all of the winners from 2019 Virtual Circuit and Summit Circuit races, who will compete to advance to the grand final, where the 2019 AWS DeepRacer Champion will lift the Championship Cup.
