Get on the tracks and compete in two ways: 1/ Online in the Virtual Circuit World Tour via the AWS DeepRacer Console, 2/ In-person at Summit Circuit events worldwide.
Race at any of the Summit Circuit races or Virtual Circuit races, with no limit to how many races you compete in. You’ll receive points for each race.
Top a summit or virtual race leaderboard to be eligible to win a trip to compete in the AWS DeepRacer League knockout rounds at re:Invent 2019. The top 10 fastest lap times win an AWS DeepRacer car (or equivalent).
Your points will accumulate throughout 2019. The top point scorers in each circuit will be eligible to win a trip to compete in the knockout rounds at re:Invent 2019. You can track your position anytime in the standings.
Virtual Circuit: Join the AWS DeepRacer League from anywhere in the world via the AWS DeepRacer console and put your skills to the test on virtual tracks inspired by famous raceways to be revealed monthly. You will race for prizes and glory and a chance to win an expenses paid trip to the AWS DeepRacer Championship Cup at re:Invent 2019. There are no limits on how many of the six virtual races you can participate in. The racer with the fastest lap time at the end of the monthly race, will be crowned the champion.
Summit Circuit: Join us at any of the twenty-two in-person race events globally, where we will help you build and train a model at a workshop, or you can bring one you have trained at home. You can then put your model to the test and compete on the track in the AWS Expo. There are no limits on how many of the twenty-two events you can participate in. Simply register for the event you want to race at and we’ll see you there!
Here are the basics on how points work, check out the AWS DeepRacer League Rules for the full details.
Enter a race to establish your place on the leaderboard. You can race in any combination of Summit Circuit races and Virtual Circuit races, plus you can race at multiple races in each Circuit.
After each Virtual Circuit race and after each Summit Circuit race, you’ll receive points based on your fastest lap time. Points will aggregate across Summit Circuit races separately from the Virtual Circuit races. Points from the Summit Circuit will not count towards points in the Virtual Circuit, and vice versa.
The points will be calculated as follows:
- The maximum score of 1000 less the lap time in seconds, to three decimal places.
- Points per entrant per race = max (1000-lap time)
- For example, if your fastest lap time recorded on the leaderboard is 10.500 seconds you’ll get 989.500 points. 1000-10.500 = 989.5000
After each race, whether in the Summit Circuit, or Virtual Circuit, your updated aggregated points will be displayed in the AWS DeepRacer League Standings. Use the search bar at the top of the leaderboard to find your position.
- For example, if you raced at the Singapore Summit with a fastest lap time of 10.500 seconds and then raced at the Seoul Summit with a fastest lap time of 9.753 seconds you’d have an aggregate points score of 1979.747.
- (1000-10.500) + (1000-9.753) = 1979.747
Points will accumulate throughout the season and you can increase your score and climb the overall circuit leaderboards by participating in multiple races, improving your models and the resulting lap time. Remember, there are no limits on how many races you can participate in!
