“The future is already here – it's just not evenly distributed."
Joe joined AWS as Enterprise Strategist & Evangelist in November 2016. In this role, Joe works with enterprise technology executives to share his own experiences and those of other customers. He helps companies develop strategies for rapidly taking advantage of cloud capabilities to keep pace with innovation and build for the future. He was a managing director at Accenture with his previous role as Chief Architect and Group Technology Officer for Accenture’s IT organization. Joe led the company’s transition to the cloud including a large scale migration, cloud native development and building a data lake to enable advanced analytics and insights. Joe has learned from experience that the move to the cloud requires a transformation of people and culture as much as a technical transition. Joe earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in business administration from Kellogg's Management School of Business at Northwestern University.
Joe believes cloud services are the digital materials that will transform how we work, live and do business. He likens AWS to a building-supply store for the digital age, full of the variety of tools that enterprises need now and well down the road, and believes we’re just beginning to scratch the surface of what the cloud can do.
Joe understands that enterprises making a large-scale transition to the cloud must adopt significant change. Enterprises on a cloud journey or looking to transform the way they deliver value to the business must find ways to embrace a host of sweeping new paradigms. Fully embracing these new models requires organizations to make a series of decisions about how they’ll modify their approach and processes — which can be an overwhelming experience.
Joe works with enterprise technology executives to share experiences and help them develop strategies for how to rapidly take advantage of new products and features, without abandoning operations and security discipline. While each organization is unique, and there may be no single “best” answer, businesses can define their own tenets to help guide the decisions that make the most sense for their mission.
Joe shares his experience and advice for how to accelerate the cloud journey via his writing on the AWS Enterprise Strategy Blog and other media, interviews with top enterprise executives, in-depth videos, and talks at live events. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, music, 3D printing, and gaming.
