Amazon EC2 C6i Instances
Compute optimized instances powered by 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors
Amazon EC2 C6i instances are powered by 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and deliver up to 15% better price performance compared to C5 instances for a wide variety of workloads. C6i instances feature a 2:1 ratio of memory to vCPU, just like C5 instances and support up to 128 vCPUs per instance, which is 33% more than C5 instances. These instances feature twice the networking bandwidth of C5 instances and are an ideal fit for compute-intensive workloads such as batch processing, distributed analytics, high performance computing (HPC), ad serving, highly scalable multiplayer gaming, and video encoding. C6i are also available with local NVMe-based SSD block-level storage (C6id instances) for applications that need high-speed, low-latency local storage. Compared to previous generation C5d instances, C6id instances offer up to 138% higher TB storage per vCPU and 56% lower cost per TB.

Amazon EC2 C6id instances now available
C6id instances are powered by 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (code named Ice Lake) with an all-core turbo frequency of 3.5 GHz, equipped with up to 7.6 TB of local NVMe-based SSD block-level storage, and deliver up to 15% better price performance compared to previous generation instances. C6id are ideal for compute intensive workloads including those that need access to high-speed, low-latency local storage.
Benefits
Lower TCO
C6i instances deliver up to 15% better price performance than C5 instances. C6i instances also offer new larger sizes with up to 128 vCPUs and 256 GiB of memory, enabling customers to consolidate workloads on less instances.
Flexibility and choice
C6i instances add to the broadest and deepest selection of EC2 instances in the cloud and provide customers 10 different instance sizes that feature varying amounts of vCPU, memory, networking, and storage. This enables customers to run a broad range of compute-intensive workloads.
Maximized resource efficiency
C6i instances are built on the AWS Nitro System, a combination of dedicated hardware and lightweight hypervisor, which delivers practically all of the compute and memory resources of the host hardware to your instances for better overall performance and security.
Features
Powered by 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors
C6i instances are powered by 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (code named Ice Lake) with an all-core turbo frequency of 3.5 GHz and include support for always-on memory encryption using Intel Total Memory Encryption (TME). C6i instances also support new Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX-512) instructions for faster execution of cryptographic algorithms.
High performance
C6i instances support 40 Gbps bandwidth to Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) in the largest size and up to 10 Gbps in the four smallest sizes, which is more than double that of C5 instances. C6i instances also support up to 50 Gbps networking, which is twice that of C5 instances. C6i instances provide up to 9% higher memory bandwidth per vCPU compared to C5 instances. You can also enable Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA) on the 32xlarge and metal sizes of C6i.
Built on AWS Nitro System
The AWS Nitro System is a rich collection of building blocks that offloads many of the traditional virtualization functions to dedicated hardware and software to deliver high performance, high availability, and high security while also reducing virtualization overhead.
