Case studies
St Luke’s Anglican School
St Luke’s traditionally ran its core business applications on a virtualized infrastructure on its on-premises data center. After migrating to AWS, St. Luke's has achieved near 100 percent infrastructure availability, reduced capital costs, and has been able to scale classes without making a huge capital investment.
Code.org
Code.org relies on AWS to scale tenfold to deliver educational content to 100 million students worldwide, save $1.3 million annually, secure student data, and help students build cloud technology skills. Code.org runs its website and the Hour of Code events on AWS, taking advantage of services such as Amazon CloudFront for content delivery and AWS Auto Scaling for automated compute capacity adjustment.
Security, Compliance, & Governance Resources
Security at AWS is our top priority. Nothing is more important to us than protecting your data. As an AWS customer, you will benefit from a data center and network architecture built to meet the requirements of the most security-sensitive organizations. Check out the “AWS Security and Compliance Quick Reference Guide,” for more information.
Security and Compliance is a shared responsibility between AWS and the customer. This shared model can help relieve customers’ operational burdens. AWS operates, manages, and controls the components from the host operating system and virtualization layer down to the physical security of the facilities in which the service operates. Learn more about the Shared Responsibility Model.
AWS Well-Architected Tool
The AWS Well-Architected Tool helps you review the state of your workloads and compares them to the latest AWS architectural best practices. The tool is based on the AWS Well-Architected Framework, developed to help cloud architects build secure, high-performing, resilient, and efficient application infrastructure.
To use this free tool, available in the AWS Management Console, just define your workload and answer a set of questions regarding operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization. The AWS Well-Architected Tool then provides a plan on how to architect for the cloud using established best practices.
Learn more about the AWS Well-Architected Framework by taking our self-paced training that provides pillar-specific design principles and examples of AWS Well-Architected best practices. The training is free, and takes approximately one hour to complete.
