Equipped with unique identifiers, Internet of Things (IoT) devices provide context to their environment, giving visibility into the network, the devices themselves, and their surroundings. Equipped with rich data sets and using advanced analytics, IoT can give us enormous insight into our world. AWS makes it easy to get started with IoT.  In this track, new and experienced developers will learn to connect devices to the cloud. We will highlight best practices when using the cloud for IoT, connecting devices with AWS IoT, and using AWS endpoints such as AWS Lambda, Amazon Kinesis, Amazon S3, Amazon Machine Learning, Amazon DynamoDB, and Amazon CloudWatch to build IoT applications that gather, process, analyze and act on data generated by connected devices.

AWS IoT is a managed cloud platform that allows connected IoT devices to easily and securely interact with cloud applications and other devices. In this session, we will discuss how constrained devices can leverage the AWS IoT service to send data to the cloud and receive commands back to the device using the protocol of their choice. We will discuss how devices can connect securely using MQTT and HTTP protocols, and how developers and businesses can leverage the AWS IoT Rules Engine, Thing Shadows, and accelerate prototype development using AWS IoT Device SDKs. Finally, we will cover new features released since the launch of AWS IoT including integration with Amazon Machine Learning and Amazon ElasticSearch Service.

Learn more about how to use AWS IoT's Device Shadows and Rules Engine to build powerful IoT applications. With Device Shadows, you can build applications that interact with your devices by providing always available REST APIs. By taking advantage of AWS IoT's topic-based rules and built-in integrations, you can build IoT applications that gather, process, analyze, and act on data generated by connected devices at global scale, without having to manage any infrastructure.

The AWS IoT Device Gateway now supports MQTT over WebSockets. Build real-time mobile and web applications that interact over WebSockets, and easily scale to millions of simultaneous users. You can use WebSockets with Amazon Cognito to securely authenticate end-users to your apps and devices.
