Enhancing visibility into your organization’s knowledge base to increase employee productivity [Level 200 – Intermediate]

Data lives everywhere, scattered across many systems and content repositories. If you manage to consolidate all these information silos to build a single index for search, you are still confined by the limitations of keyword search tools. Such solutions require users to convert a question into the best possible keyword combination, creating friction in the user experience. In this session, we will discuss how AWS Enterprise Search Solution combines previously-siloed data sources seamlessly into a single source of truth and allows users to pose natural language questions instead of keyword combinations to retrieve search results faster and more accurately.

Proactively detect anomalies in operational and business data to reduce investigation time [Level 200 – Intermediate]

Amazon’s biggest lesson in anomaly detection across multiple businesses is that machine learning-based techniques perform well, but there are complex considerations involved. First, all data is unique and one single anomaly detection algorithm might not fit every data type and the wide variety of metrics it possesses. Second, generating actionable results by learning relationships across customer metrics is critical for faster remediation. Third, being able to dynamically adapt to changing business cycles and seasonal trends helps reduce false alerts and improve accuracy. In this talk, we will discuss ways to build accurate anomaly detection, even with suboptimal ML expertise.

      About the track

Database engines are critical components of business applications. We see a growing customer trend towards building internet-scale applications that require diverse data models. In response to this, developers now have the choice of relational, key-value, wide-column, document, in-memory, graph, time-series, and ledger databases. Each of these choices solves a specific problem or a problem space.

Tune into this track to learn about purpose-built databases from AWS that meet the scale, performance, and manageability requirements of modern applications, which many of our customers have successfully pivoted on, thus repeating disruptive solutions and enhancing customer experiences with reduced management overhead.

Application modernization with AWS purpose-built databases [Level 100 – Introductory]

While traditionally, organizations relied on single relational databases for their applications, this one-size-fits-all approach is no longer ideal. • Build an intelligent marketing kiosk using AWS AI/ML services

In this session, learn how to build a Smart Ad Display capable of serving relevant advertisements in real-time, based on the inference from the audience looking at it. Most advertising displays in retail today serve static or periodically shuffling ads, which change at regular intervals and are usually geared towards one segment of buyers. This leads to retailers to missing the opportunity of catering to other segments who would be near a billboard or a display.

This session will demonstrate how to build an intelligent solution where an advertising display can use an on-device camera, or feeds from nearby CCTV cameras of people passing by to identify the audience and serve them a personalized advertisement in near real-time. Learn how to use services like Amazon SageMaker and Amazon Rekognition to extract attributes like age, gender, height, and face-positioning and then feed these attributes into Amazon Personalize to serve more relevant, targeted advertisements.

Build a plant disease detector and recommendation system using Amazon Rekognition service

In this session, learn how to build a Plant Disease Detector and Recommendation System using the Amazon Rekognition service. Plant diseases have become increasingly prevalent in farming leading to substantial economic consequences. Disease damages to plant can greatly reduce yield and quality losses. Hence, symptom identification and knowing when and how to effectively control diseases is crucial.

The health status of plants can be assessed through their leaves. But for a farmer, it is nearly impossible to detect if the leaf is infected with any disease, the disease category, and the required pest to control the same.

This demo will create the following workflow:
      • The user will take a picture of any plant leaf from mobile and upload it to the app.
      • The app will process the image and check if it is infected with any disease.
      • The app will provide a recommendation based on disease category

Smart interview bot using deep learning

Enterprises often find it hard to shortlist the right talent for tech roles due to lack in consistency and efficiency in the interview pipeline. These pipelines are predominantly manual, with lot of manual efforts required to interview candidates and assess their capabilities. It’s also difficult to find the interviewers’ time to schedule these interviews.

Given the COVID situation, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to conduct these interviews in-person and an ML solution like the one we demo here will help enterprises improve their hiring process.

We will have a front-end web portal to mimic the interview experience where a user is presented with a tech question that they can submit answers to - orally or in text. The ML model will evaluate the technical answer for its correctness and quickly revert with a score (within few ms).

Support helper: Intelligent search with Amazon Kendra

IT support teams are often overwhelmed and hit pretty hard with a lot of general guidance and L100 "how-to" genre questions from the customers which can be easily sourced from the documentation.

With a key focus on enriching the customer experience, we have built a self-serve chatbot that will be able to offer general guidance on how-to questions and answer basic inquiries without requiring human engagement. This will allow the customer to get seamless support sooner, and not log support cases for L100 cases. This will also free up the bandwidth for the support teams and enable them to handle true high priority cases which need a deeper understanding of implementation specifics and a deep-dive for the root cause.
