"The extensive value of digital transformation cannot be realized by technology alone. It requires long term vision, consistent leadership, clear and frequent communication, and the cultural evolution necessary to re-imagine business operations. Organizations can reap the rewards of new agile, innovative business models offered by true digital transformation—only if they are willing to re-imagine their traditional ways of working."
Julien Groues was appointed as Managing Director for AWS France in August 2018. His mission is contributing to the country’s digitization by partnering with French organizations of all sizes, from enterprises to start-ups, and growing AWS France. Julien works closely with French CEOs and CTOs to help them leverage the benefits AWS Cloud technology to innovate, stimulate business value and better serve their own customers.
Throughout his career in senior leadership positions, Julien has demonstrated the benefits emerging technologies bring towards creating a digital future. Julien understands that a customer-obsessed approach drives both digital and cultural strategies and is able to leverage his knowledge and experience from top global corporations in business analysis, international sales and marketing strategy to help AWS customers achieve their business outcomes.
Prior to joining Amazon, Julien launched C3.ai in Europe, helping the leading enterprise AI software provider become a CNBC top disruptor and cementing the company a place on the annual Forbes Cloud 100. Julien also spent five years at Oracle, where he led global sales in the Utility Global Business Unit after Oracle acquired LODESTAR, where he served as Head of EMEA.
Julien earned an M.B.A. from the Simon Business School at the University of Rochester in the US, building on a B.A. in European Business Administration in the UK and a diploma in European Business Studies in France.
As a French leader, Julien believes that it’s part of his role at AWS to facilitate access to technology for all those who want to embrace or accelerate a career in IT in France. To ensure this belief becomes a reality, Julien supports education and training efforts at a national level by offering access to AWS training programs, at no charge, to the largest audience possible. In less than three years, AWS has trained more than 25,000 people in France and wants to continue empowering French professionals and students with highly sought-after cloud computing and digital transformation skills.
At AWS, Julien is the voice for how the cloud can accelerate the digital transformation of France organizations. You can listen to him speak at the AWS Transformation Day Paris 2019.
