Hundreds of free and open data products
You can easily browse the AWS Data Exchange catalog to find a range of up-to-date commercial data products relevant to financial services, healthcare, life sciences, geospatial, consumer, media and entertainment, and other industries. The AWS Data Exchange catalog also includes a large selection of free and open data products sourced from academic institutions, government entities, research institutions, and private companies.

Fast, direct access to data
Because data providers have already published data sets to AWS Data Exchange, you can quickly consume the data (and new revisions) in the cloud without the need to build custom tools and infrastructure specific to each data provider.

AWS billing incorporates data product charges
Any applicable data subscription costs are included on existing AWS invoices.

Integration with full portfolio of AWS services
You can quickly export data from AWS Data Exchange to Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and immediately start analyzing it with Amazon Athena and Amazon Redshift. You can also build machine learning (ML) models with Amazon SageMaker, transform and process data with Amazon EMR and AWS Glue, or build a data lake with AWS Lake Formation.

Automation to retrieve new revisions of subscribed data
You can use Amazon CloudWatch Events to retrieve new revisions to S3 automatically and consume a provider’s latest data as soon as it's published. You can stay up to date without having to manage any physical media, FTP credentials, or other legacy technology. For more information about setting up automation, see Automating the retrieval for new data set revisions.

Data Provider Features

Simple yet sensible setup
AWS Data Exchange has step-by-step registration wizards to help you create a profile page and complete registration in minutes. You’ll then be contacted by our team to undergo a detailed review before you can be qualified to list data products on the AWS Data Exchange catalog.

Quick data product listing to reach AWS customers worldwide
After you’re qualified, it takes just a few clicks or API calls to upload and package data residing in Amazon S3 buckets or on-premises environments. Step-by-step wizards help you specify product information and publish data sets as free or paid products. You can use either custom agreements or standard agreement templates and offer 1- to 36-month subscription durations.

Option to make products available only to specific customers
You can create private products that you’ll issue data products exclusively to specific subscribers. Private products do not appear on the public catalog and can include data that either is not meant to be generally available or is customized for a particular subscriber.

Option to customize offer terms
You can also create private offers for select subscribers at terms that are different from those available to the general public. Only these subscribers can see the data product, and you can set terms including price, duration, payment schedule, data subscription agreement, or refund policy.

Reporting and commerce analytics
AWS Marketplace provides daily, weekly, and monthly reports in email detailing product subscriptions, customers, and financials. You can also access them anytime on the AWS Marketplace Management Portal or through an API.

Bring Your Own Subscriptions offers
After you publish a data product, you can easily migrate existing subscriptions to AWS customers. With just a few clicks, you can create a Bring Your Own Subscription (BYOS) offer specifying existing agreement and subscriber details for no additional cost.

End-to-end encryption
AWS Data Exchange encrypts all data in transit and at rest. Data in transit is secured using SSL/TLS and data at rest is protected using server-side encryption.

Subscription verification
You can enable subscription verification to approve or decline potential subscribers to your data product, protecting intellectual property rights and managing regulatory and compliance requirements. This can be useful for restricted, regulated, or limited-access products. For example, you might only grant a subscription to verified subscribers or subscribers with approved use cases.

Audit
AWS Data Exchange integrates with AWS CloudTrail to enable providers and subscribers to audit all AWS Data Exchange API calls made by a user, role, or any AWS service in their AWS account. Using the information collected by CloudTrail, customers can see all requests on resources they own. To learn more, see Logging AWS Data Exchange API calls with AWS CloudTrail.
