Amazon ECS Support for Windows Server 2019 Containers is Generally Available
Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) now supports running Windows Server 2019 containers. Amazon ECS provides an ECS-Optimized Windows Server Amazon Machine Image (AMI), which is based on the EC2 Windows Server 2019 AMI and includes Docker 18.09 and the ECS Agent 1.27.
Microsoft Windows Server 2019 features a number of key container support enhancements, including a reduced container image size from about 11GB to as little as 3GB. A reduced container size means faster startup times, better performance and makes moving them faster and easier. Creating your cluster with Windows Server 2019 AMI based instances enables support for Windows Containers based on Windows Server Core 2019 LTSC, Windows Server Nano 1809.
