The company needed a scalable and fault-tolerant solution to integrate geographically dispersed edge devices equipped with AWS IoT Greengrass to manage and ingest data from local PLCs. This growing fleet of dispersed devices also needed in-depth management across their full life cycle.

The small footprint EdgeIQ Orchestration for AWS was deployed on each AWS IoT Greengrass edge device with the ability to failover to secondary edge devices. EdgeIQ also provides complete device life cycle management and data ingestion of attached PLCs.

High availability monitoring and management of each location has been enabled with data seamlessly federated through AWS IoT Greengrass to AWS Data Analytics services. In addition, each edge device is fully managed and receives software and configuration updates automatically.
