  •  What you'll build
  • Use this Quick Start to set up the following JIRA environment on AWS:

    • A virtual private cloud (VPC) configured with public and private subnets. This provides the network infrastructure for your JIRA deployment.*
    • An internet gateway to provide access to the internet.*
    • In the public subnets, managed network address translation (NAT) gateways to allow outbound internet access for resources in the private subnets. The Quick Start deploys NAT instances in regions where NAT gateways aren't available.*
    • In the private subnets, Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) PostgreSQL as the external database for JIRA.
    • In the private subnets, an Auto Scaling group with JIRA instances based on Amazon Linux.
    • Amazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS) as the shared file system for storage.

The template that deploys the Quick Start into an existing VPC skips the tasks marked by asterisks and prompts you for your existing VPC configuration.

  •  How to deploy
  • Build your JIRA Software Data Center cluster in a few simple steps:

    1. If you don't already have an AWS account, sign up at https://aws.amazon.com.
    2. Get a license key for the JIRA product you want to deploy.
    3. Launch the Quick Start. Each deployment takes about 30 minutes. You can choose from two options:
    4. Configure the JIRA product for multiple nodes.
    5. Add nodes to the cluster.

To customize your deployment, you can choose different instance types for your resources, configure your cluster nodes, and adjust file server and database settings.

  •  Cost and licenses
  • You are responsible for the cost of the AWS services used while running this Quick Start reference deployment. There is no additional cost for using the Quick Start.

The AWS CloudFormation template for this Quick Start includes configuration parameters that you can customize. Some of these settings, such as instance type, storage size, and IOPS, will affect the cost of deployment. See the pricing pages for each AWS service you will be using for cost estimates.

The Quick Start requires an Atlassian account and a Data Center license to use the JIRA Data Center applications you’re planning to deploy on AWS.
