AWS Services Used
Amazon OpenSearch Service
Amazon OpenSearch Service makes it easy for you to perform interactive log analytics, real-time application monitoring, website search, and more. OpenSearch is an open source, distributed search and analytics suite derived from Elasticsearch.

Airbnb uses Amazon EFS for Linux-based workloads for use with AWS Cloud services and on-premises resources. Online travel marketplace Airbnb supports hundreds of critical services on its platform, making it essential to maintain a reliable source control infrastructure. The company uses GitHub Enterprise for both source control and management of its continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes.
A year after Airbnb launched, the company decided to migrate nearly all of its cloud computing functions to AWS because of service administration challenges experienced with its original provider. Founded in 2008, San Francisco-based Airbnb is a community marketplace with over 7 million accommodations and more than 40,000 unique experiences for customers to book on the company's website or through its iOS and Android applications.
Airbnb enables a multi-tenant, fine-grained Security Access Control to their Kubernetes Control Plane architecture. To locks down the security controls, Airbnb runs Kubernetes on Amazon EC2 and leverages AWS Security Token Service (STS) tokens to inject the IAM role into the cluster. Airbnb further refines the access controls with the IAM role to the PODs for least privileged access. For better observatory, Airbnb audits what roles that the pods have by using Amazon CloudTrail that feeds into Amazon OpenSearch Service for visualizations and insights. As a result, Airbnb has a better security posture and operational efficiency.
