Moving into the cloud with AWS will help the Government of Honduras save time, money, and resources.
President Juan Orlando Hernández

Earlier this year, the Government of Honduras and AWS signed an agreement that will support a roadmap of Honduran government engagement in job creation and growth, workforce preparation, modernization of government systems and tools, and protection of citizens in a connected world.

Using AWS, the Government of Honduras will begin to execute on a number of established goals, including the creation of 60 startup companies, training 40 teachers and 200 students on cloud computing, and a migration of core government websites to AWS.

“Honduras is modish, as today it becomes the first country in Latin America to sign an agreement of this nature,” says President Juan Orlando Hernández. “Moving into the cloud with AWS will help the Government of Honduras save time, money, and resources.”

A similar agreement was signed by the government of Chile shortly after Honduras signed its agreement.

“Latin American governments continue to rapidly adopt AWS Cloud services for the benefit of their citizens,” says Jeff Kratz, AWS director of Worldwide Public Sector for Latin America, Canada and the Caribbean. “Honduras and Chile are leaders in publicly adopting the latest technology, government cloud-first policies, and security standards for economic growth. Strong engagement with our local partner communities, U.S. Embassy teams, and NGOs will accelerate success for a better, safer Latin America.”
