Jay shows you how
to connect an EC2-Classic instance
and resources in a peered VPC

How do I enable communication between an EC2-Classic instance and resources in a VPC?

If all the resources are in the same AWS account, you can enable communication between EC2-Classic instances and the instances in the VPC on the other side of the VPC peering connection by creating a VPC peering connection between the two VPCs, enabling ClassicLink for one of the VPCs, and linking the EC2-Classic instance to one of the VPCs using ClassicLink.

You can either enable a local VPC to communicate with a linked EC2-Classic instance in a peered VPC, or you can enable a local linked EC2-Classic instance to communicate with instances in a peered VPC.

To enable VPC peering to allow communication between an EC2-Classic instance and peered VPC resources:

  1. Open the VPC console.
  2. From the navigation bar, choose Peering Connections.
  3. Select the VPC peering connection, and from the Actions menu, choose Edit ClassicLink Settings.
  4. Select Allow local ClassicLink instances communication with VPC instances in peered VPC and Allow peered VPC instances communication with ClassicLink instances in local VPC.
