I would like to download the log files for my RDS DB instance, but I am unable to locate the log files to download.

To view or download logs, open the Amazon RDS console, choose Instances in the navigation pane, select an instance, and then choose Logs. Logs for an RDS DB instance are also accessible for viewing, watching, downloading, and querying using the different commands or API actions described at Amazon RDS Database Log Files. Because MySQL and MariaDB log output defaults to a table rather than a file, you cannot directly download the log data; it is stored in the mysql.general_log or mysql.slow_log tables.

To be able to easily access and download MySQL or MariaDB log files, set the log_output parameter to file. For more information about logging for the different database engines, see the following documentation:

Amazon RDS, MySQL, MariaDB, log files, slow query, general, error, log_output, mysqlbinlog
