AWS Marketplace offer two ways for sellers to deliver software to customers, as shown in the following table.

DeliveryDescriptionCustomer Experience
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)AMI software is immediately available to the customer for deployment on AWS infrastructure. The customer deploys and runs the software under his or her own AWS account. AWS Marketplace takes care of billing and payments. The customer discovers the software by browsing or searching AWS Marketplace. If interested, the customer simply clicks to acquire the software. The software is immediately available to the customer for deployment on AWS infrastructure through the customer’s software library.
Software as a Service (SaaS)The SaaS seller deploys hosted software on AWS infrastructure and is responsible for granting customer access to the software. The seller is also responsible for billing and collecting payment from the customer. The customer discovers the software by browsing or searching AWS Marketplace. If interested, the customer clicks a link that redirects immediately to the seller’s site to purchase and obtain access to the software.

Important: AWS Marketplace currently only supports Sellers with a U.S. Subsidiary that can submit a W-9 tax form and international sellers offering SaaS or BYOL AMIs where Amazon does not collect funds on the seller's behalf.
