Cisco has built upon a validated AWS enterprise architecture for secure, enterprise-grade hybrid workloads where applications and workloads run seamlessly across on-premise locations and cloud environments. It consists of three components: (1) AWS Direct Connect, which enables private 1G/10G network connections into AWS (2) AWS Direct Connect Partner (e.g. Level 3), which provides the Dedicated and Hosted Connections and (3) Cisco's CSR Direct Connect AMI, which provides the end-to-end data encryption between on-prem locations and the cloud over the Dedicated or Hosted Connection. CSR Direct Connect Multi-Gig AMI is the AX Technology package of Cisco's CSR1000V running on c3.2xlarge instance and delivering up to 1Gbps IPSec performance. It enables enterprises and government agencies to more easily extend IPSec VPNs for point-to-point and point-to-multi-point VPNs into AWS delivering guaranteed bandwith, deterministic performance, and higher security, which are critical for latency sensitive applications, HIPAA, PCI, etc., as well as the ability to copy security policies from on-prem ASRs and ISRs. In addition to VPN, this AMI also includes enterprise-class Routing, HSRP-like High-Availability, Firewall, IP SLA, LISP Workload Mobility, Application Visibility & Control, Performance Monitoring, Optimization, etc. The familiar IOS XE CLI and RESTful API ensure easy deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and service orchestration.
