WordPress Multi-Tier with Amazon Aurora is deployed on Amazon EC2 with a managed Amazon Aurora database. This topology allows the application and the database to be scaled independently without the need of having a capacity plan since Aurora is capable to automatically grow as it needed. It is an excellent solution for sites that require a high-performance database with automatic failover and high-availability.

For content authors, the Jetpack plugin (enabled by default) offers access to additional professional themes, performance improvements, scanning, site activity, and marketing tools. Other popular plugins like Akismet, All in One SEO Pack, WP Mail and Google Analytics for WordPress also come pre-installed. Audio feeds can be generated with the pre-installed Amazon Polly plugin.

For developers, this image includes the latest version of WordPress, PHP, and Apache. It is secure by default, as all ports except HTTP, HTTPS, and SSH ports are closed. DBAs benefit from Amazon Aurora's automated backups, monitoring, and fast data replication features.
