By running SQL Server 2017 with Ubuntu 16.04 on EC2, you can leverage the cost effectiveness, scalability and flexibility of Amazon EC2, the proven reliability, predictability and speed of Ubuntu, and AWS premium support with back-line support from Microsoft. Amazon EC2 running SQL Server on Ubuntu provides seamless integration with existing Amazon EC2 features including Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS), Amazon CloudWatch, Elastic-Load Balancing, and Elastic IPs.

After provisioning, please run $sudo /opt/mssql/bin/mssql-conf set-sa-password to set the 'sa' password.
