Active IQ PAS is used to gather ONTAP data to assist in troubleshooting performance issues. This tool is designed to be deployed, on-demand, for the duration of a performance investigation by ingesting relevant data, analyzing, and correlating information.

Active IQ PAS provides performance dashboards for ONTAP Cloud and (via a small container on the customer site) on-premises ONTAP clusters. Data for multiple clusters can be displayed on a single set of dashboards, allowing summary and drill down detailed views.
Using ONTAP counters, Active IQ PAS calculates and visualizes Key Performance Metrics ("KPMs"). Active IQ PAS allows you to add custom KPM definitions in addition to NetApp's standard set. Performance archive and log data is collected every 5 minutes and stored in the customer's private cloud storage. Active IQ PAS data collection imposes almost no overhead and can be used in all performance scenarios.
Using industry standard technologies, Active IQ PAS stores processed data in Elasticsearch, provides dashboard-based visualization through Grafana, and allows for easy integration with existing customer reporting infrastructures, including a complete set of APIs for more advanced data exploration.
Note that you can use your own ElasticSearch server or Grafana, or use the metrics generated in ElasticSearch without the use of dashboards.
