Product Overview

Jenkins is a self-contained, open source automation server which can be used to automate all sorts of tasks related to building, testing, and delivering or deploying software.

jenkins optimizes that flow of work through automation and the seamless integration of Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) into the development pipeline. It's possible to deploy these techniques using a Jenkins pod within Kubernetes which can be scaled according to the specific needs of the team.

Kubernetes is a powerful cluster manager and orchestration system for containers. When you need to set up a continous integration (CI), continuous delivery (CD) pipeline, deploying Jenkins on Kubernetes Engine provides many important benifits over standard VM-based deployment. Jenkins stack is setup to run inside a kubernetes engine or kubernetes cluster, this reduce the compute resources needed for CI/CD.

Helm is a package manager you can use to configure and deploy Kubernetes apps. Here Jenkins stack is deployed from the Jenkins Charts repository.
