Product Overview

This is a minimal CentOS 6 image with the Elastic Network Adapter (ENA) enabled. It contains just enough packages to run within AWS, bring up a SSH Server and allow users to login. Cloud-init, as well as the CentOS maintenance updates available at the release date are included.

Root login is disabled and only the 'centos' user is allowed to connect using ssh public key authentication.

All packages are installed within one single 8 GiB partition. Both root partition and filesystem are automatically extended if selected volume is bigger than the default one.

This CentOS6 AMI was built on Monday, November 30th, 2020. However, this is the last day CentOS provides security updates for the CentOS 6 release. Therefore, it is highly recommended to use one of the newer CentOS versions from our popular image list below:
