Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7 (Maipo)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7 (Maipo)
Product Overview
This is a minimal Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 (Maipo) image, mainly used as a common base system on top of which other appliances could be built and tested. It contains just enough packages to run within AWS, bring up a SSH Server and allow users to login. Cloud-init, as well as the RHEL security updates available at the release date are included. Root login is disabled and only the 'ec2-user' is allowed to connect using ssh public key authentication. Built using RHEL 'Minimal Install' group of packages and a single 10 GiB instance volume. Both root partition and the corresponding filesystem are automatically extended if selected volume is bigger than the default one.
Integrated with Red Hat Update Infrastructure (RHUI) in all AWS regions. This gives users the possibility to install new RPM packages and get regular security updates without purchasing a separate RHEL subscription. For more information please see https://aws.amazon.com/partners/redhat/faqs/.
