Product Overview

This is a minimal RedHat Enterprise Linux RHEL 8 image having the instance volume managed with LVM (Logical Volume Manager). The LVM physical and logical volumes, as well as corresponding filesystems, are automatically extended if the instance volume is bigger than the default one. To understand how to customise the LVM auto-extending process, please visit http://www.procomputers.com/lvmresize.html.

Root login is disabled and only 'ec2-user' is allowed to connect using ssh public key authentication.

Used mainly as a common base system on top of which other appliances could be built and tested. It contains just enough packages to run within AWS, bring up a SSH Server and allow users to login. Cloud-init, as well as the security updates available at the release date are included.

This RedHat8 AMI is ENA enabled.

Integrated with Red Hat Update Infrastructure (RHUI) in all AWS regions. This gives users the possibility to install new RPM packages and get regular security updates without purchasing a separate RHEL subscription. For more information please see https://aws.amazon.com/partners/redhat/faqs/.
