An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
Prior to use, Posit Workbench must be activated. Obtain a license key or file from Posit Sales if you have not already. Once a license has been acquired, SSH into your instance using the ubuntu
account. For more information on SSH and other options for connecting to your instance, please see the AWS Amazon EC2 user guide: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/connect-to-linux-instance.html
To activate your product, follow the activation instructions in the Workbench Admin Guide: https://docs.posit.co/ide/server-pro/license_management/license_activation_and_details.html
Once activated, your instance will be ready for use. You can access it by navigating to http://
The default login for Workbench is the username "rstudio-user" and the password is the instance ID of the EC2 instance (ex. i-0b22a22eec53b932) the AMI was deployed to. It is highly recommended to change the password for "rstudio-user" after the first login or to replace it with your own account(s) or authentication method.
