What do you like best about the product?

What I like best about Datadog is how seamlessly it brings together metrics, logs, and traces in one place. The dashboard is very intuitive, and it’s easy to set up real-time monitoring for applications and infrastructure. I also like how flexible it is — you can create custom dashboards, set alerts, and get deep visibility into performance issues quickly. It really helps in identifying bottlenecks before they impact users.

What do you dislike about the product?

The main downside of Datadog is its pricing — it can get quite expensive as your infrastructure and data volume grow. Managing costs can be tricky, especially when you’re monitoring multiple environments. Also, the interface, while powerful, can feel a bit overwhelming at first due to the number of features and options available. It takes some time to get fully comfortable navigating everything.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Datadog helps us monitor our entire system — from backend services and APIs to frontend performance — all in one place. It gives real-time visibility into logs, metrics, and traces, which makes it much easier to detect and troubleshoot issues quickly. Thanks to Datadog, we’ve reduced downtime, improved application performance, and gained better insights into how different parts of our system interact. It really helps our team stay proactive instead of reactive when it comes to performance and reliability.

What do you like best about the product?

Extremely reliable.
Ability to fine tune Custom metrics and logs ingested -> this helps to control the cost.
Many features integrated together multiplying the efficiency of Datadog as a global Observability solution.
It is easy to implement and to use.
Integration with 3rd parties is most of the time straightforward.
Scales well with a large organisation.
Dashboards and queries are very responsive even with a very large amount of data.
The Datadog team is very responsive, they already implemented most of the feature requests we suggested (over 10 in a year) which is impressive.
Support is also responsive and we have most of our issues solved in a reasonable amount of time.
The platform is used intensively be the developers across our organisation.

What do you dislike about the product?

I don't like Zendesk, it is quite poor to interact with support compared to Datadog platform.
Terraform and APIs often take longer to catch up with new features.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

While Datadog platform covers a wide range of functionality, it helps us to consolidate our Observability tool suite saving cost and time.
The fact that it's easy to use helps a lot for our application monitoring and our incidents management.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

1. Lack of Unified Observability

In modern environments, teams use dozens of tools—logs, metrics, traces, synthetic monitoring, network monitors, security scanners, etc.

Datadog consolidates metrics, logs, traces, security, and real-user monitoring in one place. This helps DevOps, SRE, security, and business teams collaborate with a single source of truth.

2. Troubleshooting is Hard and Slow

Distributed systems mean a single user action might trigger dozens of services.

Datadog provides distributed tracing, log correlation, and visualizations that allow you to trace requests end-to-end and pinpoint slow or broken parts of the system fast.

3. Cloud Complexity

Cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) change constantly—instances spin up/down, containers come and go, etc.

Datadog offers real-time monitoring and auto-discovery to keep up with these ephemeral environments.

4. Siloed Teams & Tools

Dev, Ops, Security, and Business teams often use different tools and speak different "languages".

Datadog’s platform allows shared dashboards, alerts, and insights, helping teams align on problems and priorities.

5. Proactive Monitoring Instead of Reactive Firefighting

Teams often only react after customers are impacted.

What do you like best about the product?

Datadog is very easy to use and provides a unified platform for monitoring, metrics, logs, and traces. I really like the Log Explorer, it’s powerful and flexible, especially when building complex queries to filter and analyze data. The Metric Explorer and APM features are excellent for tracking performance and identifying bottlenecks across different services. User management is straightforward, and setting up monitors is quick and reliable. Integration is also straightforward, in our case, we use it with Microsoft Teams and Azure without any issues. Their customer support has always been responsive and helpful whenever we’ve needed assistance. Overall, it’s a powerful and easy-to-use observability platform that provides deep visibility across systems and applications.

What do you dislike about the product?

Dashboards can feel limited at times, building more advanced or highly customized visualizations isn’t always straightforward.

Another drawback is the cost as Datadog can become extremely expensive if not managed carefully, especially when log volumes or monitored hosts grow quickly.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Datadog helps us centralize monitoring across all our infrastructure and applications. We use it to collect logs, metrics, and traces in one place, making it much easier to detect and troubleshoot issues before they impact users. With APM and monitors, we can quickly identify performance bottlenecks and track down root causes. The integration with Azure and Microsoft Teams allows us to get alerts and insights directly where we collaborate, improving response times. Overall, Datadog gives us better visibility, faster incident resolution, and a clearer understanding of system health across environments.

What do you like best about the product?

The user interface is very user-friendly, and the dashboard offers greater flexibility compared to other tools I have used. Implementation is straightforward and uncomplicated.

So far, based on my past experience, I have not encountered any drawbacks.

Datadog is very helpful for root cause analysis, and I find the dashboards particularly useful. They allow us to proactively monitor our servers and applications, making it easier to identify and address issues as they arise.
