Overview

We recognize that building secure and optimized infrastructure in AWS can be challenging, especially when time and knowledge are not readily available. We hence offer the AWS Well-Architected Framework Review by CloudNation to help you optimize your workloads, streamline your operations and boost your performance in AWS. The Well-Architected Framework Review is a systematic and consistent approach to evaluating your current AWS workloads against AWS best practices and provides you with advice on how to architect workloads for the cloud.

The Review is based on a set of foundational questions across six conceptual areas that are defined by AWS as the pillars of the Well-Architected Framework. We review your workloads in AWS by benchmarking them against best practices in the following pillars:

  • Operational Excellence - How do you design your workload to enable operability? How do you manage operational events?
  • Security - How are you leveraging AWS service level security features?
  • Reliability - How does your system adapt to changes in demand? How are you testing your resiliency?
  • Performance Efficiency - How do you select the appropriate instance types for your system? How do you use tradeoffs to improve performance?
  • Cost Optimization - Are you considering cost when you select AWS services for your solution? Have you sized your resources to meet your cost targets?
  • Sustainability - How can you maximize utilization and minimize the environmental impact of running your cloud workloads?

The Review process basically consists of these steps:

  1. Self-assessment via the online Well-Architected Framework Questionnaire;
  2. Kick-off meeting to get to know you, your environment in AWS, and the ambitions you might have for your workloads;
  3. Delivery of the Well-Architected Framework Review Report with findings and recommendations;
  4. Delivery of an Improvement Plan holding a prioritized set of recommendations to remediate 45% of the high-risk issues;
  5. Remediation of the selected high-risk issues in the Improvement Plan (via IaC or using documented instructions)
  6. Remediation Walkthrough meeting to go over the remediated items and our recommendations for the future;
  7. Credit request with AWS and customer satisfaction survey.
