Product Overview

This is a ready to use minimal CentOS 6 image with the Elastic Network Adapter (ENA) enabled.

Login using 'centos' user and ssh public key authentication. Root login is disabled.

CentOS 6 is no longer maintained by the CentOS team. Therefore, it is highly recommended to use one of the newer RHEL based AMIs from our popular image list below:

Highlights

This image is built using CentOS6 'Base' group of packages and uses the official CentOS6 vault repositories. It contains just enough packages to run within AWS, bring up an SSH Server and allow users to login. EPEL repository is included. Any CentOS 6 available package can be installed using the default yum command without any additional configuration. Cloud-init is included as well.
In this CentOS 6 AMI, root partition and filesystem extends automatically during boot if instance volume is bigger than the default 8 GiB one. This allows instance volumes up to 1 TiB in size.
Within all our CentOS6 images, the Enhanced Networking using ENA (i.e., Elastic Network Adapter) is enabled. SELinux is enabled as well. Latest available CentOS6 security updates released by the CentOS team are included.
