Linux/Unix

Product Overview

Started as a replacement for the recent demised CentOS 8 and as a one-to-one binary compatible fork of RHEL 8, AlmaLinux OS stable version was released on Tuesday, 30th of March 2021. Built by the team at CloudLinux, the AlmaLinux OS stable release is now available in AWS Marketplace as well, thanks to the work done by engineers at ProComputers.

This is a minimal AlmaLinux 8 image, mainly used as a common base system on top of which other appliances could be built and tested. It contains just enough packages to run within AWS, bring up a SSH Server and allow users to login. Cloud-init, as well as the AlmaLinux 8 security updates available at the release date are included.

Root login is disabled and only the 'ec2-user' account is allowed to connect using ssh public key authentication.

Built using AlmaLinux 8 'Minimal Install' group of packages and a single 8 GiB instance volume. Both root partition and the corresponding filesystem are automatically extended during boot if selected volume is bigger than the default one.

This AlmaLinux 8 AMI is enabled for a limited number of instance types. For an AlmaLinux 8 AMI that is available for all instance types, and that includes the support provided by ProComputers, please visit: https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B08R14SDQT/
