Apache HTTPD 2.4/PHP/MySQL/CentOS provided by OpenLogic
OpenLogic, Inc. | 1.0.0*Linux/Unix, CentOS 6.4 - 64-bit Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
CentOS/LAMP AMI
Apache, MySQL, PHP, networking, OS/package updating, etc. are all functional out of the box. A good start since this is not universal in AMIs (some are too lightweight to actually function as intended). This AMI is still thin enough that you will need to add many, many things you expect to already exist on a CentOS instance. Light on effort, but annoying nonetheless.
Be aware if you plan to install a CMS on top you may find compatibility issues. As an example, OpenLogic has many custom packages that will not work with WordPress owing to what seems to be compiler incompatibilities. Paramount is that the connection between PHP and MySQL is 100% nonfunctional as "yum update php php-mysql" fails. You will need to yum erase @openlogic packages and retry installing vanilla replacement packages until php and php-mysql install without failing. Not fun.
