    Move Fast UG

Not free!

Quite a bad style to advertise a product without specifying its price. The instance is actually not free, though I could not find any price information in the description.

Not free enterprise only

Avoid unless you are an enterprise user. This is not free, monthly charge required in addition to normal AWS fees. This should be made clear in the AWS marketplace listing but isn't.

In a nutshell, yhat Sciencebox allows me (the data analyst) to focus on just that, data analysis. Plus, I can automatically update analyses with new data and easily scale my projects. All without having to know more than R & RStudio (or iPython Notebooks)

Here's a short-and-sweet list of why Sciencebox is the staple of my data analysis work:

* Setup is very easy and requires no IT support
* Scheduling of jobs can be done with a few mouse-clicks (for me, that means R scripts run daily, no dealing with chron jobs or ubuntu)
* Server sleep/wake function is a big-time cost saver for the Amazon ec2 instance ($10's/month vs $100's/month)
* And yhat Sciencebox software pricing itself is more than fair (other comparable solutions are 2-3x more)
* Integration with Amazon S3 buckets (with automatic syncing also)
* Accessible with OS X Terminal, integrates perfectly into my local Mac's work-flox

Last but NOT least, the Sciencebox team is an extremely sharp crew that loves their work, their product and really listens to your feedback. Couldn't ask for more in my opinion. 5 stars from me.

Great for data science workflow/projects

Sciencebox literally saves me hours, I never have to worry about dependencies, and scaling computing power is effortless. I'm somewhat comfortable w/ AWS but the time-savings gained from Sciencebox make it totally worthwhile.

Ferrari workstation for our data science operations.

We use sciencebox for rapid prototyping of machine learning modules; it radically reduces the complexity of getting something up and running. In particular, we have really appreciated not having to install any of the packages we would need for doing scientific computing in python (even some of the obscure ones) and, in addition, we barely had to learn how to mess with EC2 because their command line interface abstracts all of that away. Also, yhat is good people - they are always available to chat, are receptive to feedback and even implemented some features that we requested! (That's right - we'll take credit for coming up with 'sb ssh' ;) )

Would highly recommend this for data scientists who are not linux hackers and just want to get down to business.

Its NOT free as stated on marketplace

I was looking for an AMI that enabled me to run some R scripts on a box with a bit more grunt than my laptop. On the marketplace it looks like this AMI is free of charge, also on yhat's website there are no prices mentioned at all.
So I launched an instance, pointed my browser to its IP (a gui was mentioned), then: "You need a product key", still no mention of pricing. Well ok, email and a password entered there, and after giving my user info they demand a credit card. Subscription $200/month.
Sorry, expecting free lunch is naive, but that is bad style. I will refrain from using yhat products in the future.

If your personal goal is to only run some R scripts here and there, the easiest way is to just create your own AMI. An hour of effort, saving 200$/month.
