Used it for a week, was not able to expand the 18GB root partition by default. Had issues with the updates.

seems to work okay, however, there are definitely some bugs..
seems to work okay, however, there are definitely some bugs..
overall we'll see, it's been installed and server up about a dozen sites or so for the past week...
initial observations-
-initial configuration steps must be done correctly the FIRST time, you can't really go back once the system is installed
-all the configs need the internal nat ip, not the elastic ip
-several cli commands are needed in order to update the ui
-occasional reboot is needed to unstick whm account creation
-services sometimes need to be rebooted from cli as the client gets stuck..
-confused about what subscriptions I need to pay for and a better understanding of the additional services offered with this marketplace ami
i'll report back in a month after I see how this all goes..
Be prepared for some manual labor
CloudLinux and cPanel are an awesome combination and seem to work well on Amazon. However, the AMI will have an 18gb root partition by default and it's a huge pain to expand. You have to snapshot the volume, send it to Amazon so they can "unlock" it, create a new volume from the unlocked snapshot they send you back, attach it to another linux machine, rebuild the partition tables to use the extra space you likely provisioned when you launched the instance, then re-attach it to your main instance and fire it up. Not fun! But it works.
