Does not work.
When you look for the databases they are not there and it throws an error about not being able to find them:
Error: BLAST Database error: No alias or index file found for nucleotide database [nt] in search path
It used to download them, which took a long time. It seems to have lost the ability to do that.

First search takes time
The client is configured to download the most recent version of these BLAST databases at the time of the first search. If your instance is running in a region that is geographically far from NCBI, you will likely experience lengthy BLAST download time (couple of hours).
very poorly performing tool
I'm not happy at all. It's not possible that a single blastp search with a single query sequence against refseq protein database lasts more than 30 minutes...there's not even a little gain comparing with online official tool. I'm going to cancel the subscription.
Exactly whats on the tin
Up-to-date and easy to update blast DBs for all of NCBIs major databases. Having an out-of-the-box ready-to go image for blast with makes it a breeze to setup and get started on large jobs.
Good work NCBI!
Cannot be stopped and started again. Make sure you finish all you need to do before stopping the instance.
Works great, but expect a few hours to populate the BLAST database. If you stop the instance, it cannot be started again. This gets a bit frustrating. It also means that you need to download the db while running whichever instance you plan to use for your BLAST searches.
