help! can't attach volume to other instance
i use this Image,and now the instance can't start,i want attach volume to other instance to copy my date.and i got error like.
Error attaching volume: 'vol-7e0fbc7f' with Marketplace codes may not be attached as a secondary device.
i need help.

I didn't realize I was being charged more for the highly promoted Red Hat by Amazon. Once I noticed, I immediately switch to CentOS which I would have normally picked had Red Hat not been so "pushed" on me. I love the CentOS image. Runs great, and its FREE!

This AMI gives you a clean installation of CentOS, that will be ready for you to decide where you want to take it to.
You can be sure that no one had any custom settings or special packages installed, and you will have full control over the final layout of the server.
Clean OS without integration with Amazon
what's bad
- does not contain cloud-init, so you userdata will not play
- out of date, current release is 6.5 (1 December 2013), but this one is 6.4
- there more than 70 pending update after installation
- non standard user used, I will prefer ec2-user by default

I am an windows administrator, but I am very comfortable to operate CentOS because of easy to remember the commands. My first preference is CentOS for deploying any applications because it is very stable operating system and large community to support and troubleshoot... Choose CentOS, live comfortable.
Great way to easily install CentOS, but note the following:
The image uses an 8GB volume, so if you set it up with say a 250GB EBS volume, it will only see 8GB.
Once logged in, you need to do the following:
sudo resize2fs /dev/sda1 (change sda1 to what the drive location is.

Seriously, everything went better than I could have hoped for. The setup was easy. Hiccups were minor. I highly recommend this setup.
