As seen-on-tv
Our project evaluated and purchased a license of the Merlin Compiler on AWS F1. While the documentation for the product is not the most prolific, the software itself and the compilation error descriptions are on point.
I had no experience using FPGAs on F1 instance. My experience is on software development which is the reason why I decided to give a try to the evaluation license. In less than 5 days and with minimal modifications to my C source code I had my logic synthesized into an FPGA for F1. There is no experience required to use software although there is an assumption that the user has a good understanding of C/C++ and memory models, specially OpenCL memory model. Reading the first chapter of any book on OpenCL should be enough to gain that knowledge.
I recommend anyone that has strong C/C++ skills to try it. You will be very pleased with the little work that needs to be done to get your code executed on an F1 FPGA board.
