Cool but not cool

Please update this AMI with ENA enabled so that it really is m5 compatible. It's simple to do.
Also, please implement some way to have more NICs since AWS has limited IPs per NIC. We need to be able to assign more dedicated IPs for email deliverability and Reverse DNS.
Apart from that, it's working like a charm.

Fix for M5 / C5 Instance types

  • April 21, 2018

Hi All.

I have raised a support ticket for cPanel to fix this marketplace offering for C5 & M5 instance types.

In the mean time there is a work around.

1: Launch an ec2 instance off this subscription that is not *5. I did a C4.Large.
2: Stop the instance in your account.
3: Run the command
aws ec2 modify-instance-attribute --instance-id {ID} --ena-support
on the new EC2 Instance ID.
4: Create an AMI of the stopped and newly ena enabled EC2 instance.
5: Launch a new EC2 Instance off the AMI as a C5 / M5

Remember that SSH login is centos
Once in there change root password
sudo su
passwd

then you can login via https://{EIP}:2087

Enjoy!

"
This instance type requires ENA support. To enable this instance type, return to the previous step and select an AMI that is enabled for ENA.
"
I cant create instances c5 or m5.

The default server for the installation is CENTOS

The default server for the installation is CENTOS and can not be modified ... When trying to install cpanel on Centos, too many errors occur.

Easiest way to deploy WHM/cPanel

I've set up WHM/cPanel on EC2 instances in the past, using a CentOS distribution and downloading cPanel. This comes with it pre-installed, and saves a bunch of time in getting it set up correctly.

    Unbelievably Bad Documentation

UGH, Where's the DOCUMENTATION???

Currently going through hoops trying to get this set up and/or installed by cPanel. There is NO GOOD DOCUMENTATION on how to achieve this. I'm currently piecing things together via various sources on the web and really have no clue what I'm doing.

PLEASE CREATE VALID, CURRENT WRITTEN AND VIDEO TUTORIAL DOCUMENTATION FOR BOTH HOW TO INSTALL CPANEL YOURSELF, OR HOW TO FIND THE INFORMATION CPANEL NEEDS TO INSTALL IT FOR ME.

NO "THANKS" ARE DUE, THIS SHOULD ALREADY BE HERE...

No Documentation and Good Support

I love Cpanel and they had great support. However, After using this, I discovered they dont have better documentation for this product on AWS and had several times and dark nights to learn about it.

Currently, I am using cpanel but not this method. Hopefully, they can improve their instruction/documentation for this to use it well. Detailed instruction is a must.
