Great product for discovery!

  • April 26, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Discovery wise , the product does a good job with asset discovery pulling the data either from the beacons and the agents installed or by getting the data from importing it
What do you dislike about the product?
SaaS manager is not mature yet , a lot of the features still need more development especially the dashboards and the customization of the metrics and filters .
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Licenses count, consumption for more visibility of a company ecosystem is a must and flexera one can acheive that if the right data is provided.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do some good research before jumping into it . Make sure all your needs can be satisfied and aligned with what the product offers.

It would be ideal to have more intersection with technopedia like capabilities. Although this may be on the way.

What do you like best about the product?
ServerTemplates, deployments & monitoring. We have more confidence that our development will act same on production.
What do you dislike about the product?
High costs of the product. We also suffered from instability of the API when we automated multiple tasks from sysadmins.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Stabilized our deployments from dev to prod.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Compare to other products, also open source projects

After four years of using the CMP extensively, cross enterprise

  • January 21, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to orchestrate deployments into a number of clouds, both private and public. The ability to front-end this with a Self-Service UI.
What do you dislike about the product?
A number of CMP features are quite outdated and stale, such as dashboards, monitoring.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Flexera CMP has enabled us to achieve a major reduction in time to deploy new customer facing environments and interface with multiple data centers, public and private.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look at implementing a CI/CD pipeline for the CMP management as well, doing this earlier will make you much more agile going on.

Single Pane of Glass for a Multi-Cloud Experience

  • January 21, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The Self-Service User Interface is straight-forward in terms of a marketplace presence. The Cloud Management portal provides a convenient intermediate-level for platform-level and IT configuration and monitoring.
What do you dislike about the product?
Depending on the use case, UI extension layout and information must be done via the API. While there is documentation available on the use of the API, examples for the calls are not provided. Some of the API call limitations are not documented.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Primarily in areas of backup/restore/replication of various artifacts. There is no way to replicate artifacts between accounts and clouds, only within a cloud and within an account. VMware is not supported very well for larger on premise install bases. The API in these areas is extremely limited.

On the benefits side, we have successfully extended our use cases to multi-platform use with said single-pane of glass.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Initial support in the area of set up and configured is provided extremely well by the support staff. Once initial knowledge and experience is gained support, while sympathetic, has little to no way of providing status for issues submitted to product development/engineering. This is also true for suggested corrections/enhancements to the product support when API documentation states one thing, but results in something other than the expected results.

RightScale is the CMP we just Migrated to. The vision is great , the learning process is tiresome

  • December 14, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There is a lot of hype around CMP and Rightscale from Flexera. We evaluated a few products online and based on recommendations, went ahead with Flexera rightscale. The good part about Rightscale is the support model and the quick response we get from Rightscale support. There are a tutorials and learning mateirial also available for us to get onboarded.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve seems huge. The Rightscale language is different and for onboarding Java developers, we need more examples, scenarios, boards where devs can talk and ask questions etc. The custom action creation seems a challenge initially. Plus Rightscale response to custom actions is slow and takes a few more seconds than the underlying action would. Also debugging is a challenge coming from Java bakground.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are migrating our product to google cloud and needed a CMP to help us manage and setup our tool on multi-tenant scenario. While there were a lot of changes we need in the app, we also had to work on imgae creation and docker migration etc. Here Rightscale and its solutions is helping us smoothen out the deployment and usage of the Cloud. This is also for helping us manage the cost
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Cost management on cloud is a key differentiatior in any migration from inhouse to cloud. But the cost should be considered keeping in mind the ease of rolling out and management. Eventually most probably you would have java/.net developers as part of the team who come with a different set of mindset to programming and support. Look for a tool which has good support, learning material and also helps in managing cost by displaying, alering on usage of a sever set up for testing etc.

Used across my organization and has helped our devops process to move to the next level

  • December 05, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of learning, ease of deployment, support and a well defined robust process of CAT (cloud access template) management and custom actions for each deployment. Custom actions are a heart of any deployment and give the ease to run specific operations on any server on cloud. These can be as simple as stopping a server to as complex as changing a configuration on a server and then restarting it.
What do you dislike about the product?
The speed at which the CMP triggers a custom action is slower than if we were to use the underlying commands. FOr example if we use a google cloud command to create a server it is faster than a cat with a custom action to do so. This limits the seed at which deployments can be made on cloud.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
moving the product to cloud platform and the ease of releasing versions of the product. Any blue-green rollover or a clean deployment is much easier as we have a form like page for support engineers instead of complex set of commands for performing actions. A runbook can be easily created to provide instructions on what needs to be done in any scenario for support engineers to work on.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ease of training material and ready made snippets of code to help developers work. This helps lessen the learning curve and debugging the application. Writing custom actions is difficult if help is not available for new teams. Also look for solutions which have a good support team. This will help when the team is stuck with a scenario where their may be a requireemnt for code review of expert advise.

Go Hybrid Cloud with CMP

  • November 14, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The option to multi cloud and great featured like server-array and monitoring
What do you dislike about the product?
The quality of support has been tremendously declined after the acquisition
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to is this CMP tool to do more than just build VMs. We also have if configured to install and configure several different software applications.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Though CMP is a good option but they don't have much support unless you pay for the enterprise solution
