CentOS 6 (x86_64) - with Updates
CentOS.org | 6 - 2014-09-29Linux/Unix, CentOS 6 - 64-bit Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Perfect
I didn't realize I was being charged more for the highly promoted Red Hat by Amazon. Once I noticed, I immediately switch to CentOS which I would have normally picked had Red Hat not been so "pushed" on me. I love the CentOS image. Runs great, and its FREE!

Love it!
Well done, it works great. I love CentOS and WHM/cPanel runs so well on it as well
Setting this up was very quick
Excellent mint conditions installation
This AMI gives you a clean installation of CentOS, that will be ready for you to decide where you want to take it to.
You can be sure that no one had any custom settings or special packages installed, and you will have full control over the final layout of the server.
Works great
I am an windows administrator, but I am very comfortable to operate CentOS because of easy to remember the commands. My first preference is CentOS for deploying any applications because it is very stable operating system and large community to support and troubleshoot... Choose CentOS, live comfortable.
A joy to work with
Seriously, everything went better than I could have hoped for. The setup was easy. Hiccups were minor. I highly recommend this setup.
Great service, but expensive coast
The amazon estruture is excelent, you have the best service in cloud computing, but the traffic coast is most expensive.
Working great so far
I recently installed the AMI and so far it's working great. It is stable and haven't had any issues.
Excellent as usual
I've been using CentOS for years now, and was previously forced to use third party packagers on AWS. Now that there are official Centos AMI, no more backthoughts about security issues in the software.
Really good ami (good for customization)
Plain not modified centos, just as i was use to from our prior physical servers.
I like that is a really minimal system, that your can customize to your needs.
Top-notch, cost-free, enterprise-level Linux AMI
If you're looking for a full-blown, enterprise-level Linux AMI that won't cost you anything extra, you've found the right one. It is much better than the Amazon Linux AMI that seems to be watered down and missing some key capabilities (like CIFS) without having to hack it. So far we're very satisfied with this AMI.
