needed to stand up wordpress to test some themes and UI - the bitnami AMI was quick to setup - works straight of the box, great AMI to start with
Using this image reduced a day's-goal to 10 minutes.
No matter how confident you are using linux and setting up http, mysql, wordpress and dealing with permissions why not just let someone else jump through all of those hoops for you? Using this got me from zero to fully-functional in ten minutes instead of spending a whole day on it.

Works as advertised. Tried a couple of others and didnt work well with the template I was implementing. Was able to get this running in a few minutes.

After not messing with Wordpress for nearly 4 years, I decided to give it another shot for a project I'm working on.
AWS, with their free tier was perfect for this.
Having no coding experience other than HTML, between guides online, and simple commonsense, this was an easy and beautiful setup.
Please do remember, if you have to change files on the server, MAKE A BACKUP. I nearly destroyed many hours of work by being this stupid.

The basic approach is to download your private key from your AWS account. On Linux and Mac OS X come bundled with SSH clients by default. To connect to your server using SSH, you need to open a Terminal and type the following:
