PhpBB is free to use and simple to install which is great
What do you dislike?
PhpBB doesn't really match up to suites like IPS or VB in today's world.

It's a great and easy to setup tool for a discussion board

What do you like best?
I love phpBB with a passion. Who wouldn't - I learned my entire set of programming language(s) on this platform. I started with phpBB when I was 10 years old. That was back on phpBB2. Now they are on the 3rd version and the features are jam packed. Anything you want can be found, and because it uses an extremely common language, if you need something customized, it can easily be done with some simple research.
What do you dislike?
If you're a completely new to PHP person, this board may be a steep learning curve. However, if you harness the power of PHP - your options are limitless.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
This software is what I use for any website I administer that needs a community backing. It allows for users and the company to connect more personally.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Know PHP. That is a very important part of using the phpBB software. If you know PHP you will be able to create anything with this forum software.

I needed to setup phpBB quickly. I chose this product without knowing if Bitnami was a reliable vendor or how it would work being hosted on aws. To help you understand how well it has worked, I have not contacted support even ONE time. It works flawlessly for me. I have technical abilities, but I chose to pay for speed. I want to encourage you to consider this product.
