CENTOS THE BEST SOLUTION TO START A INFRASTRUCTURE IN YOUR BUSINESS

  • February 18, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
CentOS is a popular open-source operating system that is known for its stability, security, and reliability. Many people appreciate CentOS's long-term support, predictable release cycle, and strong focus on enterprise-level features, making it a favorite among system administrators and developers.
What do you dislike about the product?
it's worth noting that CentOS has undergone some changes in recent years that have caused some controversy and dissatisfaction among its user base. For example, the shift towards CentOS Stream as the main development branch, and the announcement that CentOS 8 would have a shortened support cycle, have drawn criticism from some users who value CentOS's traditional focus on stability and long-term support. Nonetheless, CentOS remains a popular choice for many users, and there are still plenty of reasons to consider it for your server or desktop needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the primary benefits of CentOS is its stability and reliability, which makes it a popular choice for servers and other critical infrastructure. Because CentOS is based on the same codebase as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), it inherits many of the same enterprise-level features and security updates. This makes it a good choice for organizations that need a dependable operating system for running mission-critical applications.

A Stable and Secure Linux Distribution with Long-Term Support

  • February 15, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the things that i appreciate about CentOS is its stability and security. Since CentOS is based on RHEL, it benefits from the rigorous testing and security features of the enterprise-grade distribution. This can be especially valuable for users who need a reliable and secure operating system for their business or personal use.
What do you dislike about the product?
One issue that i have with CentOS is its slower release cycle compared to some other Linux distributions. Since CentOS is based on the source code of RHEL, it can take longer for updates and new features to be incorporated into the distribution. This can be frustrating for users who want access to the latest software and features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the main problems that CentOS solves is the need for a stable and secure operating system that can be used for enterprise-level applications.

Many businesses and organizations require an operating system that can handle critical applications and data without the risk of crashes or security breaches. CentOS provides a solution to this problem by offering a stable and secure operating system that is based on the reliable and thoroughly tested source code of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Another problem that CentOS solves is the need for a long-term support cycle. Since CentOS is supported for up to 10 years after release, it provides users with a stable and reliable platform that can be used for extended periods without the need for frequent upgrades or replacements. This can be particularly beneficial for businesses and organizations that need to maintain stable and consistent IT infrastructure over long periods of time.

the benefits of CentOS include a stable and secure operating system, long-term support, and compatibility with a wide range of software and hardware. These features can benefit users who require a reliable and consistent platform for their business or personal use.

Community-driven Stable OS

  • October 19, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
An enterprise Linux version is as stable as RHEL in most cases. Now also delivered in one more flavour called CentOS Stream. It is a continuously delivered distribution.
What do you dislike about the product?
CentOS user base is not as strong as some of the other distributions. CentOS does not have good UI and driver support compared to operating systems like Ubuntu.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
CentOS's longer release cycle and support cycle are features to consider. Its support for essential server apps like Nginx, LAMP, and PBX are outstanding. Services like DNS, and DHCP run flawlessly and have excellent community support.
