Excellent product, with support to match

I opted for this product to develop future Zend Framework projects as the cloud concept suits my working situation much better than running this locally.

The installation of Zend Server on Amazon's EC2 service is very straightforward and takes just a few minutes. MySQL is not included and requires installation for database applications.

Integrating this with Zend Studio is a bit more challenging. After a couple of emails with Zend's excellent support I was able to complete this and am up and running now.

Not for me

Couldn't really get this working how I would like it to. The doc root seems to be a located outside of the normal htdocs folder with a catch all virtual host setting, same as installing zend server locally. You can "deploy" an app/website and it works fine, but simply uploading for development couldn't get it to work. I don't really want to have to deploy an application each time I'm testing some code changes. I also had problems connecting to AWS with Zend Studio, took an entire day of playing around to try and get it to work. But that I think was more of a studio problem.

I like the idea of ZendServer, but for now I'll stick with MAMP for development purposes.

Can't use with Zend Studio

I followed the Zend Studio tutorial for Zen Studio 12 - Developing Applications with Zend Studio Using Zend Server on AWS.

On Step 1: Adding the Zend Server AMI to Zend Studio, the first two steps were fine. But when I got to The Zend Server details dialog, and entered the details there I got the error message - Server is not bootstrapped.

This stopped me dead. And the Zend help was no help at all.

I think I have been screwed - by Zend.
