HP Loadrunner review

  • January 14, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best?
It is a very powerful scripting tool to best record user actions programmatically with a flexible and versatile scripting engine to extend tests with success-failure checks, thus making testing more intelligent.
What do you dislike?
Complexity. LoadRunner is not simple to learn by installing it and "doing it". Especially when using different data sources to do cross measurements of system performance. Performance testing with a tool like this requires planning and skilled resources.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Performance testing of our system is a customer requirement that could not be done without the use of a robust testing tool.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
HP offers extensive documentation and support services to help its customer base.

The best in Performance Testing and Load Testing

  • December 18, 2015

What do you like best?
Best perfomance testing tool.
Test results generated by the tool are really awesome
Best in class test run features. A truly professional performance tester can produce a lot of benefit out of it.
Test case design and debugging is very easy.
The coolest feature in the tool is that Performance tester can adjust the applied load on the go. In many of the other industry leading tools, we have set those parameters prior to the test and it cant be changed at any point in time.
What do you dislike?
The programming language is not that very popular.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
As a successful SaaS organization, we had a lot of customers using our system. It was very critical to make sure the performance of the system is intact after every releases.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for perfect performance testing tool, Load Runner is the best choice. This brings value for money for organizations.

My 8 years association with HP Loadrunner

  • May 22, 2015

What do you like best?
I believe demand is always directly proportional to quality of the product which is why I believe Loadrunner has been on top of the line thorough these many years of it's journey. HP Loadrunner is very user friendly, flexible and highly customizable.
What do you dislike?
I cannot specifically point out to a single or specific dislike. I have used many open source and paid tools through my career. Apart from the fact that cost of licensing is one big goal to choose LR; I find managing the C code for huge application (in terms of many tricky business cases) needs more expertise in coding and handling the tool.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
I used LR for a variety of product domains including E-Learning, E-Commerce etc. Most of the scenarios demands high throughout and variety of complex logic to automate and Loadrunner always played key role in getting this done. As I mentioned the major challenge is using 'C' coding for HTTP/HTML protocol which turn tricky and needs expertise to handle the complex scenarios well without crashing or consuming more Loadrunner infrastructure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need comfort and speed in achieving the automation goal with precision and have budget then I would recommend HP Loadrunner.

The Industry Standard for Performance and Load Testing

  • May 11, 2015
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best?
Separation between the various components, VUGen, Controller and Analysis. Saving of text-based artefacts to the file system, so that you can perform searches and automate the analysis of script and scenario quality using other tools. Integrated monitoring. Sophisticated and usable Analysis tool.
What do you dislike?
Inability (as yet) to record/decode Kerberos SOA traffic encrypted in fat-client applications.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Pre-production performance profiling and architecture scaling.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's not cheap, so it's only for the big players at the moment, but it's probably the one with most industry penetration and breadth of target technologies.

LoadRunner Review

  • May 07, 2015
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best?
LoadRunner simulates user activity by generating messages between application components rather than simulating interactions with the user interface such as keypresses or mouse movements.
What do you dislike?
Some times it works bit slow and I find bit complex
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Load Generator generates the load against the application by following scripts
