Nessus Pro Review

  • November 21, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Name recognition and it is relatively inexpensive when comparing to other products. It does a fine job and is relatively easy to setup and use. Additionally, technical support is very good.
What do you dislike about the product?
Reporting. There is a lack of good reporting. The account team is too passive. Not sure the roadmap of the company. The account team never proactively brings to our attention of new products, features and lineups.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
To determine vulnerability malware analysis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Reporting is very important to us. However, the can reports in Nessus are not sufficient. It is difficult to generate custom reports for various department needs. I have dealt with their technical support team a lot and they are great. Their sales team, on the other hand, is a bit passive. Did not have quarterly review or annual review.

Ability to throttle scanning as to not cause system impacts.
What do you dislike about the product?
Reports could be more flexible. Would like to have greater flexibility for vulnerability management as opposed to leveraging another tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Vulnerability Identification.

The industry standard for vulnerability scanning

  • November 20, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Simple to configure most scans. Software upgrades are very smooth and easy, probably my favorite software to upgrade because of the lack of issues or hassle. In my experience, most companies use it so its a familiar tool no matter where I work. I like that it is a reliable product with a plethora of valuable data that can be used to increase an organizations security posture.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some false positives. Wish it was easier to search specific vulnerabilities and aggregate or sort results data. Would like the ability make notes in the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A wonderful resource for assessing an organizations security posture. We have relied upon Nessus scan results numerous times to identify vulnerable systems when a new significant exploit has been announced.

Makes finding vulnerabilities a breeze

  • November 20, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We use it to find vulnerabilities with primarily Windows Servers. It does a great job of finding missing patches and missing settings to enable some of those patches.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nessus Manager is not good for larger teams needing to manage scan definitions. It is also needs significant customization for doing compliance scans.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it primarily to uncover problems with our patch management processes.

Tenable - Still a Leader

  • November 20, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The forward thinking vision and ease of use and customization
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of migration plan for SC > IO for customers requiring an on-premise solution. IO is a vast improvement, but on-prem deployment limits options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
vulnerability scanning and configuration drift. By ingesting Tenable data into the Fortress VRM workflow and analytics platform along with other data sources, we are able to achieve excellent visibility and prioritization to actually reduce risk for our customers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
No need to look further, for vuln scanning and configuration compliance monitoring,Tenable has you covered. For remediation workflow, ingestion of other non-tenable data sources and advanced analytics we recommend looking at products like Fortress VRM

NESSUS Review

  • November 20, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We can automate it and use it with our CI to produce potential candidate vulnerabilities. It finds many potential issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Several of the issues NESSUS finds are really low probability issues for us, so we end up chasing things we really would not have to look at.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
WE are using it daily to pre-identify potential security issues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Perhaps tune it to have options to identify vulnerability issues by level of importance.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Trying to ensure that our network is free from vulnerabilities gives us the assurance that our data is protected.
