What do you like best about the product?
The upsides of using PostgreSQL include its reliability, scalability, advanced features, open-source nature, and strong community.
What do you dislike about the product?
Potential difficulties with setup and configuration, complexity that may not be necessary for smaller projects, challenging documentation, and potentially limited third-party integrations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Regarding business problems, PostgreSQL can help us to manage our data, which is becoming increasingly important in today's data-driven world.
It can also help us ensure data consistency and accuracy.
Furthermore, its scalability and ability to handle large amounts of data make it well-suited for applications that require high availability and performance.

What do you like best about the product?
The language used is universal to most query tools which makes it an easy tool to use and experiment. And learning ina free environment is super helpful
What do you dislike about the product?
Drag and drop of data values in not available in the latest version, as this feature is available in other editors this was expected and would have been helpful
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
querying and experimenting with my work questions at home without tampering with mother data, in any environment. The sample data sets available help with using this tool to replicate problems with ease

The most powerful, feature-rich open-source relational database management system

  • February 22, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The main plus point about PostgreSQL is that it's an open-source R-DBMS that is very reliable, making it a first choice for startups and other organizations. Also, it has gained a high reputation for its high performance while handling high volumes of datasets very efficiently.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I feel that's a downside in PostgreSQL is that its GUI functionality is very limited and not that user-friendly, making it challenging for first-timers to use its complete functionalities, especially when they are not used to the command-line interface.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PostgreSQL helped us while working on a web application as the backend database management system, which was built on top of Java the main reason I chose this was that it was open-source and had a vast community, which was needed when we got stuck in some problem. Also because of the flexibility and its performance, it was the best option for us.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use, simple to maintain for learning purposes.
What do you dislike about the product?
I used it during a Data Analytics boot camp so I can't speak to how well it works for organizations and teams. No complaints from me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used it in a Data Analytics Boot Camp to learn SQL queries and creating databases.

Best open source relational database for geo location and data migration

  • February 10, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about PostgreSQL is its open source. Being an open-source relational database, it also provides value to the customer and their users in terms of fast and internal precalculated libraries and functions that help developers and users retrieve data fastly without any hurdle.
Postgresql is also helping us with fast query execution and efficient use of memory.
What do you dislike about the product?
Being an open-source relational database, the area of improvement is its inability to handle large-volume database application support.
Another thing is its limited community or ecosystem compared to premium databases like oracle and SQL servers.
The query execution explanation plan is also not good in PostgreSQL.
Postgresql does not have any run-time debugger, so some time to hard to find the error's root cause.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Postgresql provides a relational database system that is helping startups and developers to learn databases and adopt new technologies that can't pay licensing fees.
It helped me to generate a geo-tagging platform that required a fast and accurate lat-long calculation that couldn't be completed without the PostgreSQL / PostGIS.
Postgresql helped me to learn how we could integrate json with RDBMS.

PostgreSQL: a good alternative to Oracle RDBMS

  • January 10, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
High compatibility with Oracle SQL and Oracle PL/SQL. With very few changes, you are able to migrate an Oracle Database to PostgreSQL. There are also a good choice for what concern high availability and load balancing solutions.
What do you dislike about the product?
PostgreSQL is able to manage JSON data with native datatype and APIs. But if you need to query datasets over 10 Gbytes of raw data, consider transforming JSON documents to normalized tables because queries may have time-out issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently, PostgreSQL is solving the problem of not having the high cost of an Oracle Database installed on-premises. And it also solved the problem of having to rewrite all the PL/SQL code written in another language.

Thinking about prod go for PostgreSQL

  • December 30, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
PostgreSQL works awesome in production environments. It's secure and scalable relational database.
What do you dislike about the product?
PG store data in storage in it's own cluster which means you also have to keep eyes on directory space.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Production scalability and secure easily managed by this database. Admin interface is nice.

Exploring PostgreSQL

  • December 23, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
PostgreSQL, or "Postgres", is an open-source relational database management system (RDBMS).PostgreSQL, or "Postgres", is an open source relational database management system (RDBMS). It supports multiple programming languages, making it easy to develop applications using your preferred language. Unlike some other popular database solutions, such as MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL is 100% free and open source.
What do you dislike about the product?
One major disadvantage of PostgreSQL is that it doesn't enjoy as much support from software companies as other database systems like Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle. This can mean that you may find it difficult to find commercial software that supports PostgreSQL and that integrates well with your existing system. Another issue with PostgreSQL is that it can be difficult to upgrade to newer versions. If your company relies on upgrading its database system regularly in order to stay competitive, then you may not want to choose PostgreSQL.Finally, some businesses may find that they need more features than what's offered byPostgreSQL when compared to other enterprise-level database systems. These features may include complex security controls, data replication and mirroring, and advanced performance tuning options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PostgreSQL offers advanced security features such as role-based access control and mandatory access control. This makes it an ideal choice for high-security environments.PostgreSQL supports robust data replication which enables you to replicate your data across multiple databases or clusters. This helps improve performance and availability. PostgreSQL offers powerful querying capabilities that allow you to query your data in any way you want. You can also use rich SQL functions to manipulate your data.

Very convenient to use and supports wide range of query formats

  • December 22, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Supports wide range of query syntax and best in terms if usability.
What do you dislike about the product?
Too many reserved keywords. With these many keywords we dont get to chosse meaningful column names due to reserved keyword restrictions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps store the data and is one of the best "structured query language" tools out there. Pretty versatile in supporting multiple formats of queries.
