Quick, powerful analytics platform

  • October 13, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Quick tool for analysing vast amounts of data. Supporting SQL language with useful Teradata customisation to the language. Easy to update Metadata to give extra information on data - like having in a build in data dictionary
What do you dislike about the product?
A bit less intuitive than competitors (i.e. SAS), in that a small mistake can make things fall over. Unhelpful error messages make it a challenge to figure out what has gone wrong in coding in SQL Assistant.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating new data tables for use in other applications and for teams to use. One of the main benefits is that if the data is well indexed, years and years of data be brought back very quickly, which is a great thing for any analyst to have.

What do you like best about the product?
Teradata is MPP and Shared nothing architecture which makes this software strong. It is scalable and there will not be any performance degrade when scaleup database. Query optimization and query rewrite system in Teradats is more powerful. I can say Teradata optimizer is stronger one, which makes to process Petabytes data faster. I love teradata because of its parallelism ,scalable, performance , ANSI standard SQL and last but not least now it works with cloud.
What do you dislike about the product?
Really as a developer I dont have anything dislike on teradata, But when I feel as client then it is little costlier than other databases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our organization has 50 Terabytes of data and at least 50GB data will add up everyday, Teradata never failed to run complex business queries.

Over all it was average.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Teradata database is one of the best optimized database, since I have worked with Oracle too. As per my Experience the optimization of query in Teradata base is better than Oracle.

Teradata database is best and first in innovation in terms of new Enhancement’s.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although Teradata base is good in terms of performance but still lags behind in terms of providing good user experience as the is no good tool provided by Teradata to play around it and build the cloud infrastructure around that.
There are other vendor like progress provide tolls to full fill the requirements but it cost extra money to end user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Generating day to day report for Apple and analysis on top of that helps me learns data science basics.
Teradata profiling toll like SQL Analyzer , fast load and Multi load are added knowledge to my bucket.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Over all it is good

System downsize

  • August 12, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
In shorter analysis. The numbers that are projected for the longer term.
What do you dislike about the product?
The duration for the analysis. Maybe it required for deeper analysis.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not for the smaller projects. We got the consulting services for related to the system downsize project. That requires pre tasks such as optimizing the system, backup server setup, loaner system setup.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For any complex projects such as moving to different technologies, implementing/buying any of their proprietary products, system fine (workload management). Not for any small/easy tasks.

True SMEs

  • August 07, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The consultants had a deep and wide knowledge of the data model and produced results ahead of their other consukting peers. They also tended to really listen to the customer.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside is if the consultant is not a subject matter expert. The consultant should have a deep background with the subject that they are representing I.e. healthcare, insurance, financial etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
True data integration and better understanding and solving real business issues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ensure that your consultant actually has the background that is required for the job.
