Debian Stretch, great as ever
I would have expected Debian to be present on the Quick Start AMI selection menu, but at least it's on the AWS Marketplace. It works just as well as ever.
One thing to note: be careful when un-commenting lines in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades . The commented lines are for jessie and need to be changed to stretch if you want to use them.
