Pluralsight - great courses for developers

  • October 10, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pluralsight contains a vast variety of courses for most development related topics, programming languages and concepts. The courses are easy to follow. You get a monthly usage tracking email which shows your progress towards various goals so you'll want to to use it more in order to obtain the next 'badge'.
What do you dislike about the product?
The subscription based model can be pricey enough to make it so that a company may not want to have a license for everyone in the company unless it's known that they will be using it often.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
If I need to get a quick, but concise overview of a new IT / coding topic, I find that the Pluralsight probably has a course covering it. This is much easier than crawling the web for all the individual pieces of information.

Most efficient way to get studying done!

What do you like best about the product?
The Dashboard is really nice. you can view your teams progress and keep track of all the courses your team is working on. The Dashboard is very well though out and gives you all of the information you need quickly.

The reporting features are really handy as well. Its easy to pull reports and give to upper management on the usage stats and whatever else you need.

Another thing I really like is the multitude of classes in various formats which is nice.

We received the licenses right away and it was a breeze to setup and get going. We have over 11 users on our team and setup was just adding the name and email adress.

Plurasight sent the link and walked the user through getting started. It was very easy to get started and setup the teams. Our Account Rep was also very helpful when I needed additonal licenses and was quick to respond and help out.

The Goals, awards and achivements motivated our team members to keep studying cause who doesn't need a little competition especially when we have so much going on. The platform made it easy to incentivize our team members which increase the amount of time and days our members logged on and used the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
They might have this already but we don't utilze the notifications so this might be just on us. It would be nice if email notifications were went to the team to help movitate team members to continue the trainings. Sometimes a little nudge goes a long way.

Because there is alot of course it would be nice to maybe have a guided wizard to help teams pick courses to work on based on industry or job functions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I manage the help desk, Our technicians are our first contact to our users when someone is having an IT related issue. Having technicians that are well trained and have the skills that our users depend on is very important to our company. Before we would send techs to various programs and classes but there was no way for us to track their invidual progress. We would also have to pay for days off, meals and travel if the courses weren't close. Haveing an online platform makes it very efficient too see progess and use the saved expenses for rewards and bonuses. The convience of being able to start and stop a lesson when there is downtime also helps our technicians with finishing courses.

What do you dislike about the product?
I found no disadvantage in the courses used.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed to provide training in cloud technologies to transitioners in a way that was relevant to their backgrounds yet technically sound.

What do you like best about the product?
As an IT manager what I like most about Pluralsight is the ease of use for myself and my team. They also have some great training materials on every current technology. The instructors are knowledgeable, and the videos are easy to follow and understand. We are becoming a heavy Azure shop and their training videos have helped us tremendously. I can also easily monitor what my team is training on, and I can assign them training materials that is relevant to their job roles. Their customer support is also very helpful when we need them. They helped us out with deployment and implementing it in our environment and integrate into our authentication platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far the only issue I have is managing both their "Pluralsight" and "A Cloud Guru" portals separately. I have been told that they will eventually merge but it has been a while.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As everyone else we have a lot of new projects related to cloud technologies. Pluralsight has been crucial in training our IT staff in those cloud technologies.

Some of the cources are outdated. Would have liked more updated scenario based courses on Azure
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to find biginner level content on generic subjects on cloud. So it's easier to learn a new topic

Pluralsight - great for beginning learners

  • October 03, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There's a lot of breadth to the course offerings in Pluralsight. It's a great resource for starting your learning in many areas of tech and business. The UI is very good and the analytic tools allow you to understand what course offerings are most important to your learners and adjust your approach in rolling out learning. It's good to see that in recent years, Pluralsight has put work into supporting certification study and hands-on labs. User / account management is very easy as well. Pluralsight have recently acquired A Cloud Guru, which is a great addition to the content for server and cloud development, infrastructure and CI/CD.
What do you dislike about the product?
Once you've covered the basic learning in an area, it can be difficult to find more advanced content in most areas. The content varies a lot depending on the subscription tier you're enrolled in, and it's difficult to get an understanding of the differences without trying out the different tiers or doing a lot of digging online. It's also frustrating when you search for a topic, find a course listing, then see that it's not available in the subscription tier you're using - I'd prefer that it not show up if I can't use it, and realize that this is a prompt for the user to upgrade their subscription. Their pricing model ends up being fairly complicated when considering add ons like labs and SSO (single sign-on), requiring more time/planning when working to roll out Pluralsight Skills.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We often have software engineers ramping up on areas or technologies that are new to them for both professional and personal development. This is our primary use case and having Pluralsight as a learning platform is positioned as a job perk.

The quality of the instruction is great. It seems like the topics I'm interested in are updated very frequently as new versions are released.
